Veronica (Guerra) Martinez

61, of Providence, passed away peacefully in the hands of her Queen, her daughter on Friday, August 26, 2022 at HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care. She was the wife of Luis A. Martinez. Born in Guatemala City, Guatemala, she was a daughter of Francisca (Lopez) Guerra and the late Raul Guerra.

Veronica had a long career as a social worker / case manager for various organizations such as: Greater Elmwood Neighborhood Services, South Providence Neighborhood Ministries and Central Health Center. She also received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Providence College in Liberal Studies in 2009.

Besides her husband Luis and mother Francisca, she is survived by her loving children, Jennifer Aracely Ortiz and her husband Robert, Oscar Javier Caicedo and Jonathan Caicedo, all of Providence; cherished grandchildren, Uriel Ortiz, A’lijah Caicedo and Aadyn Caicedo. She was the dear sister of Miriam Aguilar of Guatemala, Vilma Ruiz of Providence, Olga DePaz of Florida, Edwin Guerra of Virginia and Erick Guerra of Westerly. She also leaves many cherished nieces and nephews and several informal adopted children. She was everyone's Wela.

VISITING HOURS will be held in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Tuesday from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. The visitation will be livestreamed via YouTube and Facebook . Burial will be private.
