Narragansett

Paul T. Bernardi, Jr.

89, of Narragansett, RI and Hollywood, FL, passed away peacefully on Thursday April 25, 2024 with his family by his side.  He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara M. (Blue) Bernardi for 61 years. Born in 1935 in South Providence, in the same house that his father was born in, he was the son of the late Paul T. Bernardi Sr. and Madeline Bernardi. He also leaves behind his sister, Ann Marie Bernardi.

Paul is remembered with love by his children, Paul and Meg Bernardi, Diane and Paul Ray, Steven and Lisa Bernardi, and Michael and Stacy Bernardi. He was the proudest “Grampy” of Paul and his wife Mia, Eric and his wife Emily, Julia and her husband Jeffrey, Steven and his wife Kaitlynn, Taylor, Amanda, Reed, Jennie and Maria. Paul was also the cherished great-grandfather of Camilla, Rocco, Charlee, Paul, Leo and Bowen.

Paul served his country in the United States Navy. Following his time in the service, Paul worked for the United States Post Office for 40 years. He then worked for the Rhode Island Lottery for 15 years. When he retired, his hobby was working part time at Kingstown Liquor Mart where he enjoyed socializing with his coworkers and customers. Paul enjoyed his recent years in Florida where he was warmly cared for by Paul and Meg.

Paul lived a life full of love for his family and friends with Italian food being a close second to his heart. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the New England Patriots. Friends and family enjoyed watching games at his house, even if he didn’t always prove to be the most optimistic fan, it was always the place you wanted to be. Walking into his house you were always greeted by Paul with a big hug, your favorite drink and a festive time. Everyone felt welcome around Paul. We will celebrate Paul’s life with his favorite Chianti wine, a big bowl of coffee ice cream, Frank Sinatra music and a stack of blueberry pancakes with extra blueberries. Most importantly, we will keep his memory alive through the many stories he shared with us.

May he rest in peace and never be forgotten by all who knew and loved him.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 8:45am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory – SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Road, (Rt. 1A), Narragansett followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Point Judith Road, Narragansett.  Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.  VISITING HOURS Friday from 4-6pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 964 Main St, Pawtucket, RI 02860 or to the Cleveland Clinic Hospice, PO Box 931517, Cleveland, OH 44193-1655.
