Melissa M. (Zuena) Saccoccio

of Cranston died, surrounded by family and friends, on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 after a hard-fought battle with metastatic breast cancer.

She was the beloved daughter of Georgia (Iaciofano) Zuena and the late Claudio Zuena. Melissa was the cherished wife of Bruce Saccoccio and devoted mother of Adriana, Sophia, and Olivia Saccoccio. She is also survived by her “soul sister” Lisa Simone and her godchild (and all-around PITA), Maria Pezzullo.

Melissa was a dedicated physical therapist for many years at The Miriam Hospital and Pro Active Physical Therapy. She also proudly served as an adjunct faculty member at the Community College of RI. Melissa was a graduate of Cranston High School West, Rhode Island College, the University of Rhode Island, and Boston University, where she ultimately earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She was a communicant of Holy Apostles Church and served as a Eucharistic minister.

Melissa loved nothing more than spending time with her family. From hosting holiday-themed parties for her children and their friends, to organizing the occasional girl’s night out for all the moms, Melissa enjoyed bringing people together to live, to laugh, and to make those memories we will all hold so dear.
