Matthew J. Simpson

of Smithfield, RI, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Providence, RI, he was the beloved son of Stefanie M. Campopiano formerly Simpson and David Simpson; loving brother of David M. Simpson and Tayla L. Simpson; maternal grandson of David and Dorothy (Mariano) Campopiano of Cranston, RI and paternal grandson of Donald W. Simpson and his wife Jamie of ME and Nanette (Lesage) Boudreau and her husband Scott of Chepachet, RI.

Matthew grew up in Rhode Island and attended high school at Dexter High School in Maine where he was an outstanding football player and was captain of the defensive team; and was a former running back at Killingly Middle School in CT.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid N.E. Patriots fan.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Friday, July 27th at 9:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, 1525 Cranston St., Cranston at 11 a.m.  Burial will be at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.  VISITING HOURS are Thursday, July 26th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital, 22 Bramhall St., Portland, ME 04102.
