79, of Cranston and Block Island, passed away on January 25, 2019 after a long illness. He was born on August 1, 1939 in Providence to Joseph Charles and Anna (Aspry) Filippone.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ardys (Guenther) Filippone, his daughter Selina Filippone, his son Joseph Filippone, two grandchildren Nathaniel and Julianna Filippone, four sisters, Joanna DelBonis, Mary DeCubellis, Victoria Smith and Margery Harrop along with twelve nieces and nephews.
He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from U.R.I. He was a teacher and then was employed by the City of Providence and the Narragansett Bay Commission. He was an avid reader and researcher of history and geography. His fondness of poetry led to his being a scholar of the life of Robert Frost and his works. He will be remembered for his love for family and friends who shall miss his quick wit.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Wednesday at 6:30 pm in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston. VISITING HOURS will precede his service from 4:00 – 6:30 pm. His burial will be held at a later date.
