It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carolina C. (Cardillo) Gaglione of Cranston. Carolina died peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, March 16, at the age of 83. She was the daughter of the late Mary (Scungio) and Carlo Cardillo, Sr. of Johnston. She was the loving and devoted wife to her late husband Frank Gaglione.
Carolina was a proud Graduate of Cranston High School East’s Class of 1957 whose classmates became life-long close friends. Carolina and her husband Frank hosted many happy Reunion Committee Meetings over the years at their home.
Love of family always came first for Carolina. She was a stay-at-home mom until her eldest was in high school beginning her career at her alma mater Cranston High School East. She left to work for her former high-school classmate Mayor Michael Traficante as his assistant for fourteen years and was honored to finish her career with the Cranston Police Department.
Carolina developed a love of sewing as a young child and became a seamstress who made clothing for her children. Throughout the years, she also made wedding gowns, veils, draperies and clothing for her family and friends.
Carolina always had a smile on her face and was well loved by many. She was the first to call in a time of need to be sure you were okay and to ask if there was anything she could do. She was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner at St. Mary’s Church in Cranston. She was a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox.
Carolina was a loving mother to her beloved children - daughter, Cheryl Ann Gaglione of Cranston, son Robert Gaglione and his life partner Kerilynn, stepdaughter Lisa Marie Parker and her husband John. She was a proud grandmother to her cherished grandchildren - granddaughter Kristen Elizabeth Gaglione and her partner Joseph Aschettino, grandsons Steven Jonathan Gaglione, Gianni Steven Gaglione, Seth Viccione and Bryce Viccione, step-granddaughters Samantha Josephine and Cassandra Anne.
She is also survived by her siblings Carlo Cardillo, Jr., Lorraine Rotmer and her husband Edward, Deborah DiMundo and David Cardillo. She is predeceased by her much-loved son Steven Frank Gaglione, granddaughter Ashley Elizabeth Gaglione, step-daughter Pamela Ann Gaglione and siblings Sylvia Maddalena, Anita Pitocco and Thomas “Tucker” Cardillo.
She was the proud grandmother of puppies Blu, Bandit and Thor and is predeceased by her dear pup Niko. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Carolina’s family would like to thank the amazing Administrators, Nurses, MedTechs, C.N.A.s, and Staff of the Cedar Crest Nursing Center – Generations Unit, Pacifica Senior Living Victoria Court and Hope Alzheimer’s Center for their never ending care and compassion.
