ZENAIDA “SADIE” BARRAN, 81, past President of Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center in Providence. Born in Havana, Cuba, she was the beloved daughter of the late Jacob and Haiganoosh (Azarian) Barran and loving sister of Lucia “Lucy” Barran with whom she lived.
Sadie came to the U.S. in 1960 settling in Pawtucket where she completed her senior year at Shea High School, before moving to Cranston in 1995. She worked at Nicholson File Company for 9 years as an assistant secretary. In 1971 she worked at Swan Point Cemetery computerizing their offices and in 2001 as assistant treasurer before becoming President in 1998 retiring in 2007. Sadie distinguished herself as a problem solver, task master and leader.
Her Funeral Service to which relatives and friends are invited, will be held on Friday, September 23rd at 11a.m. in Sts. Sahag & Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church, Providence, followed by final prayers in the Redwood Chapel at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. (Masks are respectfully requested). Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
