Walter J. Podmaska

91, of Johnston, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Celia (Piscitelli) Podmaska. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Walter and Anastacia Podmaska.

Walter was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He owned and operated Podmaska Insurance for 30 years before retiring. Walter was a longtime member of Hope Church, formerly Cranston Christian Fellowship Church.

Besides his wife Celia, he is survived by his loving children, Vincent S. Podmaska and his wife Marybeth of Smithfield, Loraine C. Collins and her husband John of Johnston, Stephen W. Podmaska and his wife Rhonda of Johnston; cherished grandchildren, Mikaela Shorey (Ethan), Alexandra McKechnie (Andrew), Y’Vonne Patterson (Jacob), Nicholas Podmaska (Isabella), Zachary Podmaska (Mariana), Jared Podmaska, Jacob Podmaska, Breana Podmaska, Cara Buzzell (William), and Jameson Collins (Rachel). He is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren. Walter was the brother of the late Stanley Podmaska, Helen Chappell and Mary Aldrich.

His funeral services were private.
