Walter N. Meciunas

84, of Cranston, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021, at Kent Hospital, Warwick. He was the beloved husband of 43 years to the late Elaine (DiPrete) Meciunas. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Vincent and Mary (Zagarinski) Meciunas. Walter was a 1955 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School later enlisting in the US Air Force . Walter, after being honorably discharged from the Air Force, attended Providence College and graduated in 1963 with a Bachelors degree . Walter was a Life Guard at Lincoln Woods , worked part time at Shepards Department Store, and was a History Teacher at Cranston High School West from 1964-1990. Walter was a huge Patriots fan , and enjoyed watching the game with his cousin Barbara DiMuccio . He loved the beach and enjoyed traveling with his wife Elaine .

He is survived by his loving family: Jeanne (DiPrete) Rheaume, Ernest L. Rheaume , Barbara DiMuccio, Ernest R. Rheaume and his wife Kim, Nicole Rheaume and her husband Ben Scheff and Christina Rheaume.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-7 pm in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory 1278 Park Ave., Cranston. (MASKS ARE REQUIRED)

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday from the funeral home at 9 am followed by a Mass at 10 am in St. Mark’s Church, Cranston . Burial with Military Honors will take place in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. (MASKS ARE REQUIRED)
