Walter James Manning Jr. 81 Narragansett RI
In Loving Memory of Walter James Manning Jr.
Walter James Manning Jr., a beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on November 1, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Marjorie Humphrey Manning, his children Walter Manning III (Lynn) and Karen Jedson (Steven), and a cherished legacy of grandchildren: Walter IV (Stephanie), Drew (Alex), Collin (Michelle Laconte) Manning; and Tori (Matt Kaczynski) and Shane Jedson.
Born in Providence and raised in Smith Hill, he was a graduate of St. Pius, LaSalle Academy and Providence College and was a life-long PC Friar basketball fan.
Known to many as a devoted husband, exceptional father, and loving grandfather. Walter's love for his family knew no bounds, and he reveled in every moment he spent with them. His marriage to Marjorie was at the center of it all; their life together serving as a concrete example that true love does exist.
An avid outdoorsman, Walter had a deep passion for hunting and fishing, which he passed down to his grandchildren. While he certainly imparted on them his skills and wisdom, he also shared the countless stories of his many adventures with all of his family from the head of the table at every dinner or gathering at their home in Narragansett.
In addition to being a dedicated family man, Walter was also a devoted public servant, working as the Personnel Director for the City of Warwick for over two decades. Prior to his tenure with the city he served in management at the United Parcel Service.
Walter James Manning Jr. may have left this world, but his spirit, his love, and his impact will endure in the hearts and minds of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all.
His funeral will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023 at 10:30am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory – SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Road, (Rt. 1A), Narragansett followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am in St. Thomas More Church, 53 Rockland Street, Narragansett.
