VIRGINIA (MAGUIRE) BOWERS

89, of Wayland Trail, Narragansett, died Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Scallop Shell Nursing Home, Wakefield. She was the wife of the late William A. Bowers, Jr. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Trapp) Maguire. Mrs. Bowers was an administrative assistant in the English department at Brown University for twenty years before retiring in 1978. She was a member and Past President of the Warwick PTA, a former member of the Brown University Faculty Club, and former member of the Warwick Country Club. She is survived by her children Virginia B. Bruckner of Narragansett, William A. Bowers, III of Kingston, and June B. Tourgee of North Kingstown. Virginia was the grandmother of six and the great-grandmother of six. She was the sister of the late Anne M. Burrows and Mary M. Millard. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Road, Kingston. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
