Vincent J. "Jimmy" Salzillo 85, of Myra Street, Providence, died after a long illness on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence. He was the husband of Ida (Bianchi) Salzillo. They were married for sixty-five years. Born in Cranston; he was a son of the late Salvatore and Elizabeth (Campopiano) Salzillo. Mr. Salzillo was a cement finisher for the former Eagle Construction Company of Providence for fifty years before retiring in 1987. He was also a caretaker for Holy Cross Church in Providence for ten years and was a lifelong Providence resident. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over fifty years, a past Grand Knight, Faithful Navigator and District Deputy. Mr. Salzillo was a longtime member of the Kelley-Gazzero Senior Citizen's and participated in a senior citizen bowling league. He was a communicant of Holy Cross Church and a past Usher Captain. Besides his wife he is survived by his son, Vincent A. Salzillo and his wife Janice of Johnston. Mr. Salzillo was the grandfather of Dedra (Salzillo) Durant and Danielle Salzillo. He was the father of the late Robert S. Salzillo. Mr. Salzillo was the brother of Jean Colafrancisco of Johnston, Jerry Salzillo of East Providence and the late Frank Salzillo and Mary Canestaro. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, Hartford Avenue, Providence.
