89, of Tequesta, FL, formerly of South Kingstown and Cumberland, RI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at South County Nursing & Rehabilitation in North Kingstown, RI with his family at his side. He was the cherished husband for sixty-two years of the late Marie E. (Colarusso) McManus. Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late William H. and Mary Theresa (McNamara ) McManus.
Mr. McManus was Sales Manager of the NY office for the Cranston Print Works Company and retired as President of Brockton Adhesive, a division of CPW. A graduate of LaSalle Academy in Providence, he was a Master Sergeant WW-II U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of St. Luke's Knights of Columbus in Hohokus, NJ and a past member of Wannamoisett Country Club in Riverside, RI and River Bend Country Club in Tequesta, FL. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and N.E. Patriots fan.
He was the devoted father of Marilyn Gauvain and her husband Greg of IL, Eileen Nylen and her husband Richard of Ipswich, MA, Deborah McManus of North Arlington, NJ, Mary Alice McManus of South Kingstown, RI and the late Catherine Reis and her husband Peter of Torrington, CT. He was the loving Pop of Kelly Reis Carroll, Casey Reis, Michelle Gauvain Hara, Christine Gauvain Lake, and Christopher, Kevin, and Mark Nylen; loving great-grandfather of ten; and dear brother of Helen Flynn of Poughkeepsie, NY and the late Brother Aurelius James (Joseph) and William F. McManus.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:45 a.m. from the Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory-SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Road, (Rt.1A), Narragansett, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High Street, Wakefield at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be private.
