VINCENT J. LAURO, 90, of North Kingstown, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2008 in Hospice Care at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence. He was the beloved husband of the late Antonetta (Carroccia) Lauro.
Born in Providence, he was the 12th and last child of Carlo and Giovanina (Pellegrino) Lauro. Vincent was a graduate of Central High School, Providence and received his Bachelor's and Master degrees from Rhode Island College. He was an educator and department head at Mt. Pleasant High School, Providence, until retirement in 1990. He was an avid yachtsman, furniture maker, and gardener. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, Epsilon Pi Tau, the Providence Teacher's Union, and the Mighty 8th Air Force Museum.
He was the father of Paula C. Lauro and Carl S. "Steve" Lauro with whom he made his home and the late Vincent J. Lauro, Jr. He also leaves several cherished nephews and nieces and a large, loving extended family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 1525 Cranston St., Cranston and may call at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Tuesday 4-8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston, followed by a collation.
