89, of Providence, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 8, 2013, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center. He was the beloved husband of sixty years to Nancy A. (Tutooian) Harootunian. Born in Winooski, VT, he was a son of the late Donabed and Armenouhi (Meldekian) Harootunian. Vasken was the co-owner of the former Tony's Delicatessen Market, corner of Broad and Potters Avenues, Providence, for sixty-five years before retiring in 2009. He was a member of Doric Lodge F&AM, Scottish Rite Northern Jurisdiction, Providence, and the Hye Rollers Armenian Bowling League. Besides his wife he is survived by his loving children, Richard A. Harootunian and his wife Deborah of Cranston, and Donald H. Harootunian and his wife Lisa of Lincoln. He was the cherished grandfather of Jared, Nicole, and Lauren Harootunian. Vasken was the brother of Harry Harootunian of Cranston and the late Vartkes Harootunian. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. followed by services in Sts. Vartanantz Church, 402 Broadway, Providence at 11am.
