Valentino A. Tirocchi, 90, of Johnston and Florida passed away on Saturday January 3, 2009 in Morgan Health Center, Johnston. He was the husband of the late Evelyn (Pelligrino) Tirocchi.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Guiseppe and Assunta (Moricone) Tirocchi. Mr. Tirocchi was a WW-II U.S. Navy Veteran serving in the Seabees Battalion; was a member of the Local 57 Operating Engineers; and the VFW of Providence. He was the founder of A. A. Wrecking Company Inc. of Johnston for over 50 years before retiring.
He is survived by his children; Susan Olivo and her husband Anthony of Johnston, Elinor Marra and her husband Jack O'Neil of North Providence, Judy Riccardi and her husband Pat of North Providence, Valerie Mooney and her husband Thomas of Johnston and Valentino A. Tirocchi, Jr. and his wife Joyce of Johnston. He was the grandfather of John Furtado Jr., Patricia Lyman, Cheryl Pannozzo, Stephanie Gagnon, Sherri and Thomas Mooney III, Jake Fahme, Valentino and Rachel Tirocchi and great-grand father of seven. He was the brother of the late Vincent, Eugene, Carlo, Louis and Anthony Tirocchi.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:OO a.m. in Holy Cross Church Providence. Burial with Military Honors will be in St.Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visitiing Hours are respectfully ommitted.
