Thomas (Tomaso) “Yogi” Raimondo
89, of Providence, died peacefully by the side of his son Robert at Hope Hospice Rhode Island in Providence on October 27, 2023.
He was born on July 1, 1934 in the Mount Pleasant section of Providence, RI.
Son to the late Giovanna (Monti) Raimondo and Giuseppe Raimondo.
Husband to the late Joan (Stanley) Raimondo.
Tom worked as a dedicated and professional Rhode Island state health inspector for over 25 years.
He was a multiple time All Star 3rd baseman and catcher and was voted by prominent local sports writers as one of the best baseball players in state history. He went on to play with the minor league affiliates of the St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers. Tom was put on the radar of scouts when he went 2 for 3 with a double and triple in an inter squad game against the acclaimed Dodger pitcher Johnny Podres. Tom’s minor league baseball records can be viewed in the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.

He leaves his son Robert Raimondo and Grandson Ryan Raimondo of Calabasas CA.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 830am from the Nardolillo Funeral Home , 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 930am in St. Bartholomew Church, 297 Laurel Hill Avenue, Providence . Burial will take place in St. Ann’s Cemetery, 73 Church Street, Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Monday 4-8 pm.
