THOMAS COSTIN GRIMES

56, of West Warwick, RI, passed away peacefully at his home on August 14th, 2013. Tom was born in Warwick on June 14th, 1957. He was the eldest of three children. Tom was a talented hair stylist and artist, as well as a beloved instructor at Costin's Warwick Beauty Academy. He studied in London under Vidal Sassoon Academy. His career allowed him the opportunity to work in Boston and several salons in Las Vegas. Tom was a great storyteller who loved the outdoors, especially camping, skiing, and hiking. He was a natural adventurer who frequented the Grand Canyon on trips across the country. Tom had a big sense of humor and an even bigger heart. Tom sparked life into every room with his infectious laughter and his indiscriminate jokes. Tom was survived by his mother, Carmela Grimes, his sister Paula Duhamel, his sister Robyn Hornstein, her husband Colonel Richard Hornstein, his daughter Tyler Grimes Mendillo and her husband Andrew Mendillo, his daughter Jordan Grimes, her boyfriend Carey Bruen, his former wife Kathy Grimes, and his nine nieces and nephews, as well as many close family members and lifelong friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Costin E. Grimes. Tom will be deeply missed by all who have had the pleasure of knowing him. Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 8:00 pm on Monday August 26, 2013 at Nardolillo Funeral Home, 1278 Park Ave Cranston, with a eulogy reading starting at 7:00pm.
