THOMAS J BARTELHO

Thomas J. Bartelho Sr. 84, of Pawtucket , Rhode Island, passed away Sunday February 7, 2010 at Summit Commons, Providence. Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts an avid animal enthusiast he loved game breed animals such as chickens and thoroughbred horses (once believed to be a dying breed) he was a thoroughbred race horse owner and trainer for over fifty years. He was a permanent figure at Narragansett Park and Lincoln Downs in Rhode Island as well as other New England thoroughbred race tracks hosting the sport of kings. He remained dedicated to the preservation of these sports throughout his life and his passion for these sports never ceased he was a free spirited person himself and a natural spirit of these creatures his beloved horses and chickens. He was a member of the HBPA (Horsemen Benevolent and Protection Association.) He is survived by his son Thomas J. Bartelho Jr. of Indiana, his daughter Tracy (Bartelho) Eller and her husband William of Delmont, New Jersey, his granddaughters Amanda Leigh Eller and Aryan Marie Harris of New Jersey, a sister Elsie O. Raphael of So. Dartmouth, Mass. , close friends Andrew Bucci and Richard Gobern of Rhode Island. Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made In memory of Thomas J.
