a beloved matriarch and dedicated member of her community, passed away peacefully at her home on December 21, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Salvatore A. Castaldi.
Born on August 21, 1927, in Providence, RI, Theresa was the daughter of the late Adolph and Clara (Pezzullo) Colaluca. She was a lifelong resident of Rhode Island and enriched the lives of her family and friends through her warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit.
Theresa was self-employed and served as Vice-President of Square Fruit Market, dba Sal's House of Plants, for sixty years before her retirement. Her dedication to her work was evident, and she took immense pride in providing for her family through this endeavor.
An alumna of St. Mary's Broadway High School, Theresa remained connected to her school community as a member of the Belle's of St. Mary's. She also found joy and fulfillment in her faith, being an active communicant of Holy Cross Parish. Her commitment to her parish included serving as a Eucharistic minister, teaching CCD and participating as a member of the Women's Guild, showcasing her deep devotion to her beliefs and her desire to inspire the younger generation.
Theresa's hobbies were numerous and fulfilling; she loved cooking, baking, sewing, and traveling. Each of these passions reflected her desire to nurture and create beautiful experiences for her family. She will be remembered not only for her culinary skills but for the warmth and love that infused every gathering.
Theresa is survived by her cherished daughters, Gail Forand (the late Robert Forand, Sr.) of North Scituate, Joan McKeon and her husband Andrew of Johnston, and Karyn Castaldi of Johnston. She was a doting grandmother to Melynda Johnson, Lisa Underwood and her husband Michael, and Robert Forand, Jr., as well as Andrew McKeon, III and his wife Stephanie, and Ryan McKeon. Moreover, she was a loving great-grandmother to her great-grandchildren: Dylan, Matthew, and Kassidy. She was the sister of the late Margaret Handy and Rudolph Colaluca. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she took great pride in their accomplishments and happiness.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, January 3, 2024 at 10am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Holy Apostles Church, 800 Pippin Orchard Road, Cranston. A private committal will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Saints Peter & Paul Mausoleum. VISITATION Friday from 9-10am. Kindly omit flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Apostles Church, 800 Pippin Orchard Road, Cranston, RI 02921.
