Steven J. Roberts

December 31, 1949 — July 23, 2020

Steven J. Roberts

age 70, passed away on July 23, 2020, after suffering unexpected complications from surgery. Born in Providence, RI, on New Year's Eve, 1949, Steven was singularly devoted to his cherished spouse of twenty years, Dianne Welch, with whom he built a happy life together in Florida surrounded by a caring community of friends.

Steven was a dedicated and loving father to his sons Steven (Mikaela) Roberts, II,. of Lincoln, RI, Matthew Roberts of Providence, RI, and Timothy Roberts, of Delray Beach, FL and his step-daughters Jessica Bissette of East Bridgewater, MA and Joanna (Kris) Bridgman of Weston, FL.  His constant support, guidance, and humor allowed for a special bond with each of them.  Even many of his sons' friends knew and loved him as Papa Steve. Steven was also a doting grandfather. His adored grandchildren Tyler and Emma Roberts and Logan and Alexis Bissette are missing their Papa, the ultimate playmate and storyteller.

The beloved only son of the late Raoul A. and Irene S. (Judenis) Roberts, he is survived by his two sisters Elaine (George) Sullivan of East Greenwich, RI and Laraine (Harold) Schofield of Johnston, RI., all of whom he loved and cared for deeply.  Numerous nieces and nephews also remember Uncle Steve with the joy only a child at heart like him could engender.

Steven attended Norwich Free Academy and LaSalle Academy in Providence.  After graduating, he had a long career in the insurance industry.  A natural-born entrepreneur, Steven created several small business ventures.  He was also a skilled craftsman in all mediums like his father before him and his sons after him.

Steven’s ultimate passion was music and entertainment. A gifted public speaker and emcee, he was the consummate professional in business and the quintessential performer in life.  He had a way of captivating a room with his beautiful, soothing voice, talent and charisma.  This allowed him to excel in several entertainment ventures, most recently as the Vice-President of Florida Talent Consultants, SW Florida's premiere entertainment source representing local and national performers.

Steven was a truly compassionate, generous, good-natured and helpful soul who was loved by all his family, friends and anyone who knew him. Whether family, friend or stranger, no one was safe from a good-humored joke when Steve was around. Targeting those he loved best, you always knew the culprit when you heard that trademark chortle of laughter. It is with certainty we know to be on the lookout for loved-filled pranks from heaven.

At this time, family and friends are asked to remember Steven in your prayers, in your love, and in your laughter. All who loved Steven will be invited to a Celebration of Life for him in Rhode Island at some time in the future.  Presently, you are encouraged to leave your memories of Steven and words of condolences at www.nardolillofh.com., Nardolillo Funeral Home, Inc., Cranston, RI.

" The depth of our love is hard to explain; the only thing deeper is the depth of our pain.  Our lives have been better having had you in it; you gave us all love every minute."
