Stephen V. Patience

84, of Narragansett passed away on December 6, 2022.  He was the beloved husband of Helen (Carpenter) Patience for forty-one years.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Vincent A. and Pasqua L.R. “Lila” (Parisi) Patience.

He received an associate degree from Dean College and attended the University of Miami.  He was a US Army Veteran serving in Europe during the Vietnam War.

While living in California for many years, Stephen started three art related businesses.  The first was an offspring of his hobby, vintage automobiles.  Self-taught he completed a 2 ½ year restoration on a 1952 Alvis TA21 which he owned for eighteen years.  His car was accepted into the Hillsborough Concourse de Elegance winning Best in Show, Best in Class, an Honorary Judges Trophy and Concourse Car of the Year for two years.  A by-product of the restoration business, he engineered the manufacturing sequence and design of an automobile logo belt buckle.  He went on to design custom motorcycle painting and wrote an article for Custom Motorcycle Magazine.

An avid photographer, he challenged himself to become more artistic with his work and garnered many awards.

Besides his wife, he leaves four children, Eric Patience of Hayward, CA, Curtis Patience of Healdsburg, CA, Mercedes Patience of Narragansett and Matthew Patience of Narragansett; a sister, Carol Brock of Narragansett; and six granddaughters, Nyasia, Mariah, Sophia, Ava, Gianna and Katori.

His funeral and burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 62 Walnut Street, Suite 5, Wellesley, MA 02481or to the Susan B. Komen, 13770 Noel Road, Suite 801889, Dallas, TX 75380.
