Stephen John Gaskin, Sr., 52, of Johnston, RI left us early Tuesday, July 29th at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the endearing husband of Cathy (Bordieri) Gaskin for 30 years and the proud father of Amy and Stephen John Gaskin, Jr. Stephen was the son of the late Charles E. and Dorothy C. (Youde) Gaskin and the son-in-law of John and Maria Bordieri. Besides his wife and children, he is also survived by his 6 brothers Charles and Maria Gaskin, Ronald and Helene Gaskin , Donald Gaskin, Timothy and Dawne Gaskin , Richard Gaskin, Jeffrey Gaskin and 5 sisters Patricia Gaskin, Holly Moniz , Dorothy and Everett Melo , Heidi and Joseph Cole , Susan and Gregory Caldarone. He was the Brother-in-Law of Karen and Enrique Remolina, David and Brenda Bordieri and the late Joseph Moniz. Stephen was also the cherished uncle of 15 nieces and nephews and the treasured friend to many. He was a hard working man whose strength, willpower and spirit will always inspire the people whose lives he touched. Though his journey has ended, those who knew and loved Stephen will tell you that in addition to the endless and unconditional love he had for his family and friends, he was also a die-hard Lakers, Dolphins and Red Sox fan, wine enthusiast and found peace and enjoyment in his back yard. He lived life to the fullest and was a firm believer of living for today. He will be sadly missed however we know that he will always be with us. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10 am in St. Robert Bellarmine Church Atwood Ave. Johnston. His burial will be private. Keeping with his wishes, visitation hours will be respectfully omitted.
