Stefano F. Assante Jr.

81, of Johnston, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, October 4, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Santa Marie (Stoppello) Assante for 61 beautiful years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Stefano and Filomena (DelGuidace) Assante Sr. 

Stefano served as the Owner and Operator of Steve’s Auto, where he showcased his exceptional skills as an auto mechanic. His auto shop was more than just a place of business; it became a gathering spot for friends and community members. Stefano was a devoted family man who cherished time spent with his loved ones. He found great joy in attending his grandchildren's sporting events and recitals, celebrating their achievements and encouraging their passions. A true handyman, he took pride in maintaining his home and always welcomed opportunities to lend a helping hand to others. 

Besides his wife Santa Marie, he is survived by his loving children, Donna Conti of Cranston, Deborah DiNobile and her husband Michael of Johnston, Diane Assante of Johnston and her fiancé Gregory Ferland of North Kingstown, and Stephen A. Assante of Johnston. Cherished grandfather of Domenic DiNobile, Nicole Conti, Renee Splendorio, Adriana Nasisi and her husband Mariano, John Conti III, Alyssa Assante, Anthony Conti, and Giancarlo Assante. Brother of Elaine Assante of West Warwick. He was the former father-in-law of John Conti Jr. of Johnston and Toni Ann Weisman of Cranston. He will be greatly missed.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Oct.15th, from 9:00-10:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Rocco’s Church, Johnston. Burial will be held in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
