Stanton D. Smith, 80, of Partition St., Warwick, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Anna (Raso) Smith. They were married for the past 59 years. He was born in Detroit, Michigan a son of the late Russell and Julia (Wenzel) Smith. Mr. Smith was a retired dispatcher for C-Line Trucking and recently worked part time for Budget Rental. Stanton was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He was stationed at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, in Paris, France serving under the command of General Dwight D. Eisenhower. He enjoyed traveling. He and Anna traveled extensivlely overseas and at home. He loved to talk and always made people laugh. He was a lovable person and brought joy to everyone he met. Besides his wife Anna he is survived by his loving sons, Steven Smith and his wife Patricia of Warwick, Donald Smith and his wife Patricia of Coventry, Gary Smith and his wife Martha-Anne of Coventry, and Deborah Smith Barclay and her husband William of West Warwick. He was also the grandfather of Michael, Michelle, Lydia, Daedra, Alexandria and Marc Smith, and Dana Barclay. He was also the great grandfather of Bianca and Michael Smith, Jr., and was the brother of Arita Raso of TX, and the late Russell Smith. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Ave. Cranston, followed a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Timothy's Church, Warwick Ave. Warwick. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Tuesday 5-8 pm.
