SISTER VERONICA CARSON, CP

84, of Providence, died peacefully on Friday, January 8, 2010 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Margous) Carson. Sister entered the Sisters of the Cross and Passion in 1951 with the religious name of Martin de Porres. Her ministries included elementary school teacher, director of Religious Education, House of Prayer coordinator, Eucharistic minister, missionary in Chile, South America, and most recently working with adults and converts in the RCIA program of St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Providence. Service was given to the parishioners of St. Luke Parish, Barrington, Assumption Parish, Providence, St. Leo the Great Parish, Pawtucket and St. John Vianney Parish in Cumberland among many others. Her dedication to the faith community of St. Charles Church has spanned over eighteen years. She is survived by cousins Carol Wohl and Patricia Kelly both of East Stroudsburg, PA. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 178 Dexter Street, Providence. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Wakefield. VISITING HOURS Monday 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Sisters of the Cross and Passion Ministry Fund, 1 Wright Lane, North Kingstown, RI 02852.
