Sina Bieu

January 30, 1952 — November 16, 2023

Sina Bieu

Sina Bieu was born in a small town in Cambodia with her parents and ten siblings.  They moved to Phnom Penh where she completed two years of college in Engineering.  While she was doing an internship at a Travel Agency in Thailand, the Communist Khmer Rouge invaded the capitol and drove people out to the countryside.  Most of her family was killed in the war or died of starvation, except for one brother and some of her extended family.

Sina emigrated to the U.S. in late 1975 and eventually settled in Cranston, RI.  She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and lived in an apartment above Cranston Bible Chapel for over 45 years. Although she had some extended family in the U.S. she decided to stay in RI and devote her life to serving God by helping those in her community and her church family.

Sina received her Masters Degree in Social Work and took jobs with the Providence School Dept., Providence Center, & the Welfare Dept. where she used her language and counseling skills to help many Cambodian families and others.  She has sponsored six Cambodian orphans over the years and helped them through school.  One of her sponsored children received a degree from CCRI.  Some have suggested that Sina move somewhere warmer like Florida because of her issues with arthritis, but she said:  "No, I belong here.  People need me here."

Sina passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the age of 71.  She will be sincerely missed by her family, her church family, and her friends.  But we will take great comfort in knowing that she committed her heart and life to Jesus Christ.  Our Christian hope is to see her again in heaven someday, according to the Word of God in 1Thessalonians 4:16-17.  - "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.  Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord."

Sina’s Funeral Service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held on Saturday, December 2nd at 10 a.m. at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by burial at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery in North Kingstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Cranston Bible Chapel, 499 Hope Rd., Cranston, RI 02921.
