Sik Kwan Chin, 80, of Providence, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2023, in his home surrounded by his family. Born in Canton, China in 1942, he was the son of the late Sheng Wan Chin and Chow Yoen (Hui) Chin. He emigrated to Hong Kong at the age of 14 on his own, then arriving in the United States in 1964. He was the loving and devoted husband of Shuet Fong Chin of almost 54 years.
He worked in several restaurants including Ming Garden in Providence and mostly at The Great House in Warwick, RI as the head chef for over 26 years. When he wasn’t working, he could be found tending to his garden or fishing during the summer. He was an avid fan of the former Lincoln Greyhound Park and he liked to gamble at the local casinos. Most important to him was the time he spent at home with his family. Sik was known for preparing delicious meals for family gatherings.
Sik leaves behind two sons, Danny W. Chin and Edward W. Chin. And a daughter Susan Chin-Arrenega (Luis Arrenega). He is survived by a brother Yok Kwan Chin. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Dap Kwan Chin, Yi Qun Chen, Suk Kwan Chin and a sister Lin Ying Dong. Sik was the beloved uncle to several nieces and nephews. And leaves behind his cherished cat, Baby.
