SHERYL T. (TAHAKJIAN) LAFLEUR, 65, of Mapleville, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Gerard R. Lafleur, to whom she was married for 40 years. Born and raised in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Martin L. and Sharkey M. Tahakjian. Sheryl graduated from Classical High School and from the University of Rhode Island as a member of the Delta Zeta sorority. She began her career working for AC Nielsen in Chicago and later became a regional sales representative for Kellogg’s in Southern New England. She married the man she fell for in the cereal section of the grocery store, and soon after the birth of her first son, she began her career as a full-time mother and wife at the house she and her husband Gerry built in Nasonville. She was devoted to parenting and educating her two children, was an active member of the Burrillville Parent-Teacher Association, and later served for 18 years as a substitute teacher in the Burrillville School Department. She was a fan of oldies music, soap operas, and skillful bargain shopping at Kohl’s, Ann & Hope, and Caldor. She also formerly served as a board member for the Armenian Evangelical Church in Cranston. She was devoted mother to Justin A. Lafleur of Bethlehem, PA, and Dr. Jarret M. Lafleur and his wife Dr. Stephanie H. Chen of Beltsville, MD; loving grandmother of Liliana S. Lafleur; and sister of Martin T. L. Tahakjian and his wife Susan; and of Sharlene T. Moran and her husband John.
VISITING HOURS are MONDAY MORNING, March 28th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Armenian Evangelical Church, Cranston, followed by a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
