Sheelagh M. (Poet) Neilland-Gatta 79, of Oaklawn Ave. Cranston passed away Friday July 13, 2007 at Sunny View Nursing Home in Warwick. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Gatta. She was born in London, England the daughter of the late James and Lillian (Emery) Poet. She came to America as a WW II war bride sailing on the liner Queen Mary with 4000 other brides to New York in 1946. She later moved to Rhode Island were she has settled since 1959. Mrs. Gatta was a Nurses Aid at the Eleanor Slater Hospital in Cranston for 10 years. She was an avid reader, enjoyed knitting, gardening and was active in several animal causes. Sheelagh was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and also sang in their choir. She was a member of the Melody Belles Barber Shop Assembly. She is survived by her loving son Kenneth Anthony Gatta of Cranston, her daughter in-law Patricia McQueeney of Cranston, her cousin, Betty Marshallsay of England. She was the sister of the late Albert, Reginald Poet and Olive Hillier. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 8 am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME 1278 Park Ave. Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in the Immaculate Conception Church Oaklawn Ave. Cranston.
