Sgt. Vincenzo B. DiPippo, USMC

Sergeant Vincenzo B. DiPippo, USMC quit his post today as a resident of this side of eternity, having been properly relieved by God the Almighty. He served as an Aircraft Navigation Systems Technician in the United States Marine Corps from November 1953 to December 1956. He was stationed at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina, and was a member of the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (2nd MAW), Marine Transport Squadron 153 (VMR-153), a Marine Corps logistical transport squadron. By the end of his service, he had earned a Rifle Marksman Qualification, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. Having served his country faithfully during the Korean Conflict and honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps, Mr. DiPippo went on to serve for 35 years in the United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier, ending his career as a trainer and instructor to the next generation of postal employees. He lived honestly and worked hard to provide for his family and children an example and future far better than he had himself, which was the tradition of men of his character. He enjoyed being an Amateur Softball Association umpire for decades and reveled in spirited debate, "solving all the world's problems before the six-pack ran dry," as he used to say. He represented the mettle of his generation, a generation that fought to build an America we continue to fight to preserve today.

He was the husband of Emelia (Trombetti) DiPippo of Cranston, Rhode Island, and the father of Lori DiPippo of Cranston, Rhode Island, Gina (DiPippo) Robson of College Park, Maryland, and Vincent DiPippo and his wife Rachel DiPippo, both of Johnston, Rhode Island. He was the proud Grampy of Brittany DiPippo and her fiancée Serena Entezary, both of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Sean Robson of College Park, Maryland, Sophia and Gabriella DiPippo, both of Johnston, Rhode Island.

He will be cremated and interred at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, Rhode Island. Remembrance, committal, and military honors ceremonies will be announced at a later date.
