Setrak "Rosdom" Jawharjian

88, of Cranston, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at RI Hospital in Providence. He was the beloved husband for 63 years of Nuver (Aharonian) Jawharjian. Born in Aleppo, Syria, he was the son of the late Hovannes and Mariam (Kalandarian) Jevahirjian.

 Setrak immigrated to the United States in 1970 with his family, with only his skills as a mechanic, his courage and belief in the American Dream. Setrak worked at Tiptop Bread then became the proprietor of Set’s Arco on Douglas Avenue, Providence. Setrak always believed in himself as his motto was “I will try” and purchased the land and buildings to open and operate Set’s Garage on Westminster St., Providence for many years before retiring. Setrak loved meeting and helping people throughout his career. As a result, he made many lifelong friends.

 He was a member of Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church and original founding member of the Homenetman-Providence Chapter. 

 Besides his wife Nuver, he was the devoted father of Hagop S. Jawharjian, Esq. and his wife Kristine of Lincoln, Heratch R. Jawharjian and his wife Kathryn of North Kingstown and Viken V. Jawharjian and his wife Jennifer of Cranston; Setrak was the loving and cherished grandfather of Zachary, Jacob, Caleb, Benjamin, Giada and Samuel, each of whom he adored with all his heart; Setrak was the last surviving brother of the late Aram Joharjian, Ishkan Jevahirjian, Surpouhie Tarpinian, Dickranouhie Kelijian and Shake Gulgulian.

 Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Friday, October 11th at 11 a.m. at Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, 402 Broadway, Providence, followed by burial at North Burial Ground, Providence. VISITING HOURS are Thursday, October 10th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston.
