Sebastiano G. "Sam" Suffoletta 86, of New York Avenue, Warwick, died suddenly Friday, January 23, 2009 at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC. He was the husband of the late Jessie (Bonelli) Suffoletta. Born in Pettorano Sul Gizio, Italy, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Cristina Maria (Bonitatibus) Suffoletta. Mr. Suffoletta was a construction worker for the former Ricci Drain Laying Company of North Providence. He was a former usher at St. Mary's Church, Providence. Sam was a member of the Johnston and Cranston Senior Centers and was a participant in the Senior Olympics, receiving numerous gold medals and the National Senior Olympics. Mr. Suffoletta was also an avid athlete and bowler. He was a member of the Rebekah's Naomi Lodge #1, East Greenwich. He is survived by his children, Theresa A. Grande and her husband Jerry of Warwick and Mary C. Suffoletta and her husband Patrick Burns of Washington, DC. Mr. Suffoletta was the grandfather of Paul J. Grande, Kristina M. Grande and Nino B. Suffoletta and the great-grandfather of Zachariah M. Grande. Sam was the brother of the late Antonia Campagna and Concetta Capaldi. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Friday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 538 Broadway, Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Thursday 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church, 538 Broadway, Providence, RI 02909-1895.
