90, of Cranston, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Rita (Pansera) DePalo. Born in Italy, he was a son of the late Nicola and Anna (Volpiciello) DePalo.
Savino was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He then went on to become a self-employed plastering contractor. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Cranston, a member of the Holy Name Society, CCD instructor, and he served as a eucharistic minister and lector. He was an active member of RI Right to Life and a champion of all unborn babies.
Besides his wife Rita, he is survived by his loving children, Vera DePalo, Nicholas DePalo and his wife Christine, Linda Osenkowski and her husband Michael, Joseph DePalo and his wife Barbara and John DePalo and his wife Kerry; thirteen cherished grandchildren, Benjamin and his wife Aimee, Stephen and his wife Jaymie, Joseph and his wife Elizabeth, Matthew, Mariah Callahan, Anthony, Nicholas, Kathleen, Patrick, John Savino, Vincent, Kayla Osenkowski, Katelynn Caruso and her husband Paul. He is also survived by his nine great-grandchildren, Zachary, James, Arianna, Juliette, Adalynn, Sophie, Violet, Luca Savino and Nico. He was the dear brother of Angelo, Mario, and the late Michael, Rosa, and Frank DePalo.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Tuesday at 10:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS will be held on Monday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4550 Montgomery Ave., Suite 1100 N, Bethesda, MD 20814.
