SAVERIO "SAM" RUSSO

90, of Meridian Street, Providence passed away on Tuesday April 6, 2010 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence. He was the husband of the late Marie A. (Messineo) Russo. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Saverio and Philomena (Rainone) Russo. He was also the step-son of the late Costanzo Iozzi. Mr. Russo was the former owner of Gilmore Furniture of Warwick for many years. He was an Air-Force veteran of WW-II and a member of the Tabor-Franchi VFW Post of Cranston. He is survived by two sons: Stephen Russo of Cranston and Robert Russo of Cranston, two sisters: Della Almeida of Cranston, Connie Minadeo of Providence and one brother, Chris Iozzi of Cranston. Beloved grandfather of Dina Rihani, Stephen Russo Jr., Robert Russo Jr., Jessica Russo, Michael Russo and Riana Russo. Great Grandfather of Alessandra and Laila Russo. He was also the brother of the late Luigi Russo and Margaret Russo. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10:00am in St. Augustine's Church 639 Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
