of Cranston, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Cedar Crest Nursing Centre in Cranston. Born in Providence, she was the cherished daughter of the late Anthony and Josephine (Mansolillo) Casacalenda.
Sandra was a health and physical education teacher for the Providence School System and received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of RI in 1973.
A very devout Catholic, Sandra supported numerous charities locally and abroad. She found comfort in meticulously preparing thousands of rosary beads, scapulas, and religious medals as gifts to donate to churches, hospitals, veterans, and religious organizations. Sandra considered herself a number one fan of singer Connie Francis-as evident by her extensive collection of the singer’s music and keepsakes. She enjoyed traveling especially to destinations where her concerts took place. Sandra was a devoted member of the Pannese Society of Rhode Island.
She will be missed by her cousin/guardian, Louis D. Mansolillo and his wife Susan of Johnston. She is also survived by her brother Anthony L. Casacalenda and nieces Jennifer Hinson and Mary Casacalenda, all of NC.
The family is also grateful for the care and support of the Generation East Staff at Cedar Crest Nursing Centre, especially Denise and her assistants. Also, a word of praise to Dr. Humera Khurshid, MD, Lifespan Cancer Institute.
