96, of Providence, passed away due to complications of the Covid-19 virus on May 18, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Gilda (DiPalma) Vitulli. Born in Cranston, he was the son of the late John and Natalie (Nardolillo) Vitulli.
Besides his wife, Salvatore is survived by his loving children, John Vitulli and his wife, Paula, of Warwick and Janice Cook, of Providence. He was the brother of John Vitulli, Evelyn Marocco, and the late Delores DiChiara, Marie Mixner, Amelia Crook, and Barbara Butler.
Last November, Salvatore & Gilda celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary.
Salvatore was a superb musician, and was a lifelong member of the Providence Federation of Musicians and the American Federation of Musicians. He performed professionally with the George Burke Summer of '42 Orchestra and The Art Tancredi Orchestra. He was also a featured soloist in the Gary Sugal Orchestra, performing at Foxwoods Resort and Casino, The Mohegan Sun and Twin River Casino. While serving in the Air Force during WW2, he played lead alto saxophone under the direction of composer Ivan Lane.
For 50 years he partnered in the jewelry manufacturing firm, Dansal Corporation, formerly Star Art Jewelry.
Besides his passion for music, Sal was a lover of animals. He was a gentle person, generous and kind, beloved by all who knew him.
We will miss him and hold him in our hearts forever.
His funeral will be private. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
