81, of Coventry, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020, at Kent Hospital, after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of 56 years to Catherine “Kasia” (Molack) Saccoccio. Born in Cranston, he was a son of the late Salvatore and Philomena (DiRiso) Saccoccio. He was also the son of the late Ida (Ferrara) Saccoccio. Sal was a US Air Force veteran during peacetime. Upon returning, he received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Bryant University. Following this, Sal was a proud employee of Stop & Shop for over 40 years where he held numerous varying positions, including the last 15 years of his career as the director of advertising.
Besides his wife Catherine, he is survived by his two loving children, Salvatore A. Saccoccio Jr., and his wife Lisa of Coventry, Gina O’Connor and her husband Raymond of Coventry. He was the cherished Papa of Sean and Kathryn O’Connor; brother of the late Joseph Saccoccio.
Sal enjoyed many things in life, but above all was his love for his family. A perfect day for him was spent with his family on Johnson’s Pond, or in his shady hammock on a hot day enjoying a cold Stella Artois. There’s a famous quote from Mister Rogers, to always “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” Those who know him, knew he helped everyone and anyone with a smile on his face that made us all feel like family. He was happy leaving this world knowing he lived a life led by family, love, and God. He will be missed and remembered every day, not only by his family but by his many cherished friends.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Due to Covid-19, his funeral services are respectfully private.
