Salvatore M. DeFazio, 86, of Pippin Orchard Rd., Cranston, passed away Friday, April 11, 2008 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence. He was the beloved husband of Carmela (DelVicario) DeFazio.
Born in Rome, Italy, a son of the late Giovanni and Anna (Pingerno) DiFazio, he came to the U.S. in 1930, settling in Cranston.
Mr. DeFazio was a truck driver for the City of Cranston Highway Department for 20 years before retiring, and was also in business as flower and vegetable grower. He was a WW-II U.S. Army veteran.
Besides his wife, he was the devoted father of John L. DeFazio and his wife Mary, Salvatore DeFazio and his wife Nancy and Louis DeFazio, all of Cranston; loving grandfather of five; loving great-grandfather of four; and dear brother of the late Amondo DiFazio.
His funeral will be held Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Immaculate Conception Church, Oaklawn Ave., Cranston at 9:00 a.m.
Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
