Salvatore C. "Charlie" Catanzaro 92, of Vinton Street, Providence, died, Monday, December 17, 2007 at Elmhurst Extended Care Facility, Providence. He was the husband of the late Antonetta (Aquilante) Catanzaro. Born in Providence; he was a son of the late Bartolomeo and Giuseppina (Bova) Catanzaro. Mr. Catanzaro was employed in his family's business Catanzaro Fruit Company at Governor Dyer's Market in Providence for forty years. He also worked at the Biltmore Hotel in Providence and the former Monet Jewelry Company of Pawtucket before retiring in 1984. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed dancing. He is survived by his children Barbara A. Meakin of Central Falls and Robert C. Catanzaro and his wife Donna of Cranston. Mr. Catanzaro was the grandfather of Lori Martel of Pawtucket and Dawn DeMello of Providence and the great-grandfather of Courtney Martel, Nathan and Zackery DeMello. He was the brother of the late Margaret, Bartolo, Jack and Philip Catanzaro, Sarah Esposito-Colardo, Rose Catanzaro, Anna Carnevale and Josephine Ryan. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 64, Brayton Avenue, Providence.
