Rosemarie (Sion) Zaino

91 of Laten Knight Road, Cranston, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Hope Health Hospice in Providence, RI.

Rosemarie was a graduate of St. Xavier Academy, Johnson and Wales University and the Spirituality of Christian Leadership Program (formerly Our Lady of Peace Spiritual Life Center.) She was also a volunteer lunch lady at St. Joseph’s school in West Warwick.

Fashion was her hallmark, personally and professionally and was the proud owner of a boutique named Sion, after her maiden name. Rosemarie loved to cook and prepared delicious feasts for all her immediate and extended family on numerous occasions. All will recall her Sunday tradition of having the entire family over for her culinary feasts. Family was everything to Rose.

She was the loving daughter of the late Antonio P. and Theresa (Cuiccio) Sion and sister of the late Edward Sion of Coventry and James Sion formerly of North Providence who will be delighted to welcome her home once again. She was the loving mother of Debra L. Zaino of Cumberland, Frank Zaino, Jr. (Judy) of Cranston with whom she lived with for the last 13 years and Linda M. Zaino-Zannini (Alfred) of Johnston. Besides her children she was the sister of Anthony Sion of Wakefield and Ronald Sion (Tom May) of Cranston and sister-in-law to Constance Sion and Mary Sion and the late Lillian Sion. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Grandma Rose was adored by her 5 grandchildren, Michelle and Daniel Murphy, Frank Zaino III, Christopher Zaino and Erika Zaino-Barry and her great grandchildren, John Murphy, Austin, Alanniah, Kai and Lani Zaino, Emerson and Lennon Barry and Brian and Riley Murphy.

In the words of her granddaughter Michelle written when she 12 years old, “Kind, caring, gracious and loving are only some of the words to describe my grandmother.” All who knew Rose loved her and will miss her deeply.

Special thanks to Hope Health Hospice and their wonderful caring staff and the special care Sherry Peter and Lynn Coombs provided to Rose, her loving caregivers.
