Ronald A. DiPrete

75, of Smithfield, formerly of Cranston, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 11, 2022 after a long illness. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Alberic and Maria J. (Guerra) DiPrete.

Ronald was a 1965 graduate of Cranston High School West, then received his B.S. in Chemistry from Brown University and his M.A.T. from Rhode Island College. He first began his career at the Verona / Baychem Corporation, then worked as a analytical chemist at Ameican Hoechst Corporation. He also taught science at Bishop Hendricken High School for a short time in the 1970s.

From 1988 – 2007 he was a research chemist at several institutes in Italy, including Lubritalia and University of Bari. Upon returning home he worked in the security department of MGM / Fowoods until his retirement.

Ron was a warm, caring and compassionate person who enjoyed playing his guitar, writing poetry, and drawing. His interests also included astronomy, music and history.

Ron received much love and support from his local cousins, James Moretti, Barbara Reis, Joseph Aschettino, Donna McKenna and former neighbor and lifelong family friend Martha DiMeo.

VISITATION will be held in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Thursday from 10:00 – 11:00 am. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: HopeHealth Hospice RI, 1085 N Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
