84, of Johnston, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 5, 2011. He was the husband of Gloria A. (Conti) Lupino for over 61 years. Born in Cranston, he was the son of the late Diego and Maria Lupino. Mr. Lupino was a Federal employee at the former US NAS, Quonset Point, for thirty-six years before retiring in 1986. He was a US Army veteran. Rocco was a graduate of LaSalle Academy and the RI Radio School. He sang in the church choirs of St. Rocco, St. Michael, St. Matthew and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Churches. Rocco was a former member of the RI Opera Guild, RI Civic Chorale, The Merriettes, and the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He was known for entertaining with his vocal talents in opera, Broadway tunes, popular music, and spiritual services.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his devoted sons, Council President Anthony Lupino and his wife Marie of Cranston, Paul Lupino of Providence, and William Lupino of South Kingstown. Rocco was the cherished grandfather of Adam Lupino. He was the brother of Vincent Lupino, Josephine Melucci, Sadie Gliottone, Tina Hawes and the late Anthony, Domenic "Miggie", Joseph, and Richard Lupino
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 9:00 a.m. in St. Rocco Church, Johnston and the family will greet relatives and friends from 8-9am at the church. VISITING HOURS are respectfully omitted. Internment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St. Providence, RI 02904.
