86, of Harrisville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the beloved husband of the late Isabelle L. (Sanger) Walton. Van was the significant other of June W. Dufficy of Harrisville. Born in Saugus, MA, he was a son of the late Royal and Marion (Cooper) Walton. He was a hairstylist for forty-two years before retiring in 1995, and the owner of the former 915 Salon in Boston and Van's Hairstylist in Framingham, MA.
Van was a WW II veteran serving in the US Navy. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed skiing, bicycling and sports. Van played many musical instruments and enjoyed music. He was a great storyteller.
Besides his significant other, he is survived by his children, Nance J. Cintolo of Warwick, Ruel W.E. Cobb of Huntington Beach, CA, Richard W. Cobb of Framingham, MA, and David S. Cobb of Dedham, MA. Van was the grandfather of eleven and the great-grandfather of six. He was the brother of Edward C. Walton of Saugus, MA, Edith O. Barrios of Oceanside, CA, Ada M. Langelier of Nashua, NH, Marian L. Callahan of Marion, NY, and the late Frank B. Walton.
His funeral service and burial will be private. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
