ROBERT "GRAMPIE" L. MATHEWS

Robert L. "Grampie" Mathews, Sr. 76, of Rockwood Ave. Cranston, passed away peacefully Monday September 8, 2008 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence. He was the beloved husband of Celia J. (Magnatta) Mathews. Born in Cranston a son of the late Charles and Ellen (Malley) Mathews. Mr. Mathews was a retired Iron Worker with the Local# 37, Smith's Restaurant and the City of Cranston. He was a Past Cub Master for Pack# 10 St. Rocco's Church in Johnston. Besides his wife Celia he is survived by his loving sons, Joseph C. Mathews of Cranston, Robert L. Mathews, Jr. of MA, Michael K. Mathews of Foster, his cherished grandchildren, Callie-Marie, Mitchell, Jodi-Lynn, Justin, Michael and his brother Edward Mathews of SC. Robert was also the brother of the late, Charles, Raymond, Louie, George, and William Mathews, Helen Vanasse, Margaret Conely and Anna Stubbs. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 9 am in St. Rocco's Church Atwood Ave. Johnston. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
