Robert, better known as “Bobby D.,” “Big Bob,” or just “Bob” D’Andrea, age 72, of Cranston, RI, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on Monday, November 18th. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his beloved wife, Donna (“Hun”); his daughter, Francesca; his brother, Thomas D’Andrea and sister-in-law, Loretta; father-in-law, Lou Antonelli; brother-in-law, David Antonelli and sister-in-law, Anita Fiore; and many nieces and nephews.
Cherished memories remain of those who went before, including his parents, Anna and Thomas D’Andrea, mother-in-law Ann Antonelli, and his furry friends Cindy, Cedar, Simba, and Sabrina.
Retired in 2022, Bob worked as a property manager and in real estate for many years. Enjoying his retirement, he spent his days doing yard work, chatting with neighbors, boating, fishing, swimming, traveling, and being on the coastline and in the sunshine. We will always think fondly of his boat, “My Two Girls,” named for his wife and daughter.
Being on the water was his happy place—avid fisherman; few catches; plenty of fun.
Bob was cool, calm, and collected and had the ability to make everyone around him feel the same – the glue that held it all together. A creature of habit, always consistent and reliable, he was the rock of his friends as well as his family.
Bob married Donna on August 6, 1988, and shared 36 years of love and adventures. They were best friends and confidants; they shared everything – life’s scariest and best moments. They were celebrators and embodied “eat, drink, and be merry,” constantly cheers-ing to life and living it to the fullest.
Bob’s favorite title was Dad; Francesca was his greatest blessing and kindred spirit. He taught her how to be organized – “keep records of everything,” how to make difficult decisions – “make a decision, lieutenant!,” how to be resilient – “shave it, tape it, and get back in the game,” and how to enjoy life, which they did together as a family.
He was known as an exceptional friend with a very tight group, including friendships lasting more than six decades. From elementary school and driving cross country after graduation to marriage and retirement, they shared all of life’s experiences with laughs.
Since his passing, an overwhelming number of people have described Bob as patient, good-hearted, and kind. He has been referred to as a loving soul and, standing at 6’3, a gentle giant. Missed by all. We are so very thankful for all of the photos, memories, and stories from his many friends.
His funeral service will be held in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 12:00pm.
