Robert J. Cunningham, 72, of Boston Neck Rd., Narragansett and Boca Raton, FL, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 11, 2009 at South County Hospital in Wakefield surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Marilyn ( Casey ) Cunningham. He was born in Providence, a son of the late John and Margaret (Clarke ) Cunningham and he had resided in Narragansett for the past 35 years. Mr. Cunningham was a salesman employed by Wayne Distributing Co. of Cranston, for 20 years until his retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the Air National Guard, and was a member of 102D Aircraft Control & Warning Squadron Association. Robert was also a member of the Narragansett Lions Club and the Friendly Son's of St. Patrick. Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Mary McGuirl and her husband Robert, David Cunningham and his wife Nancy all of Wakefield and Daniel Cunningham of NYC. He was the beloved grandfather of Casey and Caitlin McGuirl, Jacqueline and James Cunningham. He was the brother of Edward J. Cunningham of Deerfield Beach, FL and the late Ann Knecht, Joseph and John Cunningham. Funeral from the Nardolillo Funeral Home - SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Rd. (Rt. 1-A), Narragansett on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Veronica Chapel, Boston Neck Rd. at 10:00 a.m. VISITING HOURS TUESDAY 5-8pm. Burial with military honors will take place in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to South County Hospital, 100 Kenyon Ave., Wakefield, RI 02879 in memory of Robert J. Cunningham.
