Robert P. Baglini

85, of Valrico, FL and formerly of Cranston, RI passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Donna Jean (DeSimone) Baglini. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Luigi and Angelina (Santangelo) Baglini.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving daughters, Donna Peluso and Diane Hagopian (Robert); cherished grandchildren Ashley Peluso (Kevin), Brittany Marrocco (Jason), Andrew and John Hagopian, Carson and Nolan Holt. He also leaves his beloved dog Sophie.

Robert was a Lineman for the former Narragansett Electric and National Grid. During his years as a lineman, he was featured in the Providence Journal for his bravery when he was the only volunteer during a thunderstorm who would climb an air traffic control tower to change a lightbulb so planes could safely land at T.F. Green Airport. He was the hardest worker that his family ever knew, working every day in the blizzard of 1978 to restore power to his community. He took pride in his work and never turned down an emergency call. In his earlier days, he was a member of the Air National Guard where he would sew the parachutes for the soldiers. He carried his sewing skills into fatherhood, sewing holiday dresses for his two beautiful daughters. Robert was member of St. Mary’s Church in Cranston and the Holy Name Society. In Florida, Robert was a member of Nativity Catholic Church in Brandon, FL and the Knights of Columbus.

Robert was a God loving man who read his large print bible and said a rosary every day. His love for the Lord was passed down to his daughters and his grandchildren as a true testament to his tremendous faith. He adored his family and his wife’s Italian cooking with a glass (or two) of red wine. Italian meals would often end with dancing in the kitchen, where Robert was known to end the song with a “dip”. You could always count on him to have a corny Dad joke. He was the life of the party at every family gathering with his warm heart, infectious smile, and especially his dance moves. He was the envy of all his neighbors in Rhode Island as well as Florida, with his perfectly manicured yard and a pleasant “Good Morning!” to all who passed by. He could often be found taking his trusty sidekick, Sophie the dog to Home Depot in his pickup truck. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle on the country roads in Rhode Island and skiing all over Europe with his brothers and their families.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, September 9th at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston. Visiting hours will be private.
