ROBERT F. AKROYD

98, of Middlebridge Rd. Wakefield, died Monday, October 1st at South County Hospital. He was the beloved husband to the late Ida (DiCandio) Akroyd for 67 memorable years. Born in Providence, RI, a son of the late Herbert and Catherine (Mahoney) Akroyd, he lived in Providence and Johnston, before moving to his self-designed home in Wakefield. Robert leaves his daughter Norma J. Eknaian of East Greenwich, Robert F. Akroyd, Jr. of Raton, NM and Kenneth P. Akroyd of Marstons Mills, MA. He was the brother of the late Herbert Akroyd, the brother-in-law to William DiCandio, and the grandfather of five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and two great great-grandchildren. Robert was honorably discharged after two years of service as a private in the Army during World War II. He was an avid fisherman, reader, walker and a loyal friend and neighbor, who would do anything to help someone in need. VISITING HOURS will be held from 9-11 a.m. on Friday, October 5th at NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME-SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Rd., Narragansett, followed immediately by his funeral with military honors at RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
