RICHARD A. MARTIN, SR

68, formerly of Cranston, passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter on Tuesday January 11, 2010. He was the husband of the late Alma (Crum) Martin. Born in Westchester County, New York, he was a son of the late Henry and Serena (Wesley) Martin. Richard worked as a Supervisor for the former A.J. Oster Company and the Worcester Textile Company until his retirement. He was inducted to the Mamaroneck High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 1996, organized Operation Pride and was also an original member of the Model Cities Program in Providence. Mr. Martin coached over 25 years for the Edgewood Eagles, Edgewood Girls Softball, EWG Knights Youth Football, Smithfield High football and track, NP Jets and NP West Little League and was a weight master of the former SWRI Football League. In 2006, he received his BA and currently was 3 credits from earning his Masters from URI. Mr. Martin is survived by his children Lisa Martin and her partner Carol of Warwick, Ricky Martin and his wife Deb of Charlestown and Patricia Rossi and her husband John of North Providence. He was the brother of Robert L. Martin of AZ and the late Florence Snead, Edgeton and Henry Martin. Richard was the grandfather of Michael and Marissa Rossi, Josh and the late Anthony Patrick Martin and also the foster grandfather of Ty and Destiney.

Funeral will be held from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue Cranston, on Saturday at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Matthew Church. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Friday 4-8 p.m.
